On 8 and 9 May, the Teatro Circo Price will host the performance of one of the most unique and emblematic shows by the Swiss creator, Daniele Finzi Pasca. This stage performance in which theatre becomes an act of introspection and confirms that the artistic experience, like life, irrevocably transforms us.
Premièred in 1991 and performed more than 800 times worldwide and in various languages, the show celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2021, establishing itself as a key piece of contemporary theatre providing an intimate experience.
In each performance, a member of the audience (selected randomly by Finzi Pasca himself) becomes the focal point of the show. The rest of the audience watch in silence as witnesses of an extremely personal encounter. This structure breaks away from traditional theatre conventions and transforms the stage into a space for trust, risk and shared vulnerability.
The show revolves around the idea of fleeing, understood not as a physical flight, but as an inner escape. The production suggests losing oneself in order to find oneself again, momentarily abandoning certainties to go beyond appearances and discover what remains hidden.
Pasca wrote the script while he was briefly imprisoned for conscientious objection to compulsory military service in Switzerland. This biographical context impregnates the evening with an ethical and existential dimension, linking it to a trilogy devoted to fleeing, along with Dialoghi col Sonno and Arianna.
Born in Lugano (Switzerland) in 1964, Daniele Finzi Pasca is a scriptwriter, director and choreographer known for co-founding Teatro Sunil in Switzerland, Teatro Blu in Italy and the Compagnia Finzi Pasca in 2011. His many awards include the Drama Desk Award 2006 from the Broadway Critics' Circle for Best Director of a Musical for Rain or the Hans Reinhart Ring 2012 for his work as a playwright, which is awarded by the Swiss Society of Theatre.
