Located inside a hundred-year-old inn turned-boutique hotel, the Posada del León de Oro, this tavern offers the customary tapas, but in a select atmosphere, where it is also possible to have lunch. Classic ‘broken’ eggs on fried potatoes, croquettes, plates of the best Iberian hams and sausages, cheese, black pudding...all washed down with the best wines.
The culinary concept behind this restaurant and wine bar offers a contemporary take on traditional cuisine, serving a wide range of typical dishes from central Spain. Meanwhile the wine menu offers more than 300 Spanish wines. Pride of place is reserved for wines with a Comunidad de Madrid Designation of Origin as Madrid is the world’s only capital city to boast such a distinction, awarded in 1990.
One of the star items on their menu is the traditional hearty stew known as Cocido Madrileño, which is served from October to May.
