The Holy Father Leo XIV will be visiting Spain on his apostolic trip from 6 to 12 June 2026, accepting the invitation extended by King Felipe VI and the Church of Spain. The Pope will be in Madrid from 6 to 9 June, a city that the highest representative of the Catholic church has not visited for 15 years.
Pope Leo XIV’s Apostolic Trip to Spain is presented under the motto “Lift up your eyes”. The Biblical quote “Lift up your eyes” (John 4:35) is an invitation to look beyond everyday worries to discover the presence of God and open up to others. It is a call to hope and contemplation, encouraging one to look beyond oneself and rediscover unity, beauty and charity as specific signs of a shared life. This gesture of lifting up one’s eyes also expresses the attitude with which the Church of Spain welcomes the visit of the Holy Father: with an open heart and willing to walk together.
Participate as a volunteer in Pope Leo XIV’s Apostolic Trip to Madrid
The Archdioceses of Madrid has officially implemented the signing up system for those wishing to participate as volunteers in Pope Leo XIV’s upcoming visit. In order to mobilise a team of 10,000 people, the Church in Madrid has accelerated the preparations for an event that, in the words of the organisers, would be “impossible” without the support of the selfless volunteers.
The Pope will be coming to Spain on 6 June, on a trip that will include visits to Madrid, Barcelona and the Canary Islands.
