Javier Fernández Colón Ice Rink

For yet another year, the figure skater Javier Fernández is promoting an 800 m² skating rink in Plaza de Colón, which will enable children and adults alike to enjoy the most popular Christmas sport. From 29 November to 6 January 2026, the latest edition will feature a sustainable ice rink with ecological ice as an innovative and environmentally responsible alternative.

The two-time world champion and Olympic medallist is behind this 800 m² ice rink that is rounded off with a Christmas market and a merry-go-round. The rink is open to the general public and children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult. There is also the possibility of hiring little bears to help small children learn how to skate.

As a new feature in 2025, the ice rink will be sustainable with ecological ice.  Its advantages include being safer and longer lasting with a modern surface that is suitable for all ages and levels.  Furthermore, there is no need for water or electricity to keep it frozen.

Use of gloves is compulsory for the safety of all users and they can be bought at the ice rink. Use of helmets is not compulsory although it is recommended for small children. Please note that the skating time per person is limited to 30 minutes.
