The acclaimed Italian mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli leads the cast of this semi-staged version of Christoph Willibald Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, accompanied on stage by soprano Mélissa Petit. The recital will take place on 27 November in the Sala Sinfónica of the National Music Auditorium.
For the performance of Orfeo ed Euridice by Christoph Willibald Gluck, the famous mezzo-soprano will also be accompanied by her loyal Musiciens du Prince-Monaco, an ensemble founded in 2016 at the Monte Carlo Opera by Bartoli herself, and by the choir Il Canto di Orfeo.
Cecilia Bartoli (Rome, Italy, 1966) has always worked to bring to the great stages of the world compositions that are often undervalued, defending the likes of Italian castrato Farinelli, or the figure of Maria Malibran as a genuinely renowned artist. The daughter of singers, she was soon introduced to the culture of music and first went on stage at the tender age of nine, studying at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia. She made her television debut aged 19, making a name for herself among the general public and attracting the attention of Ricardo Muti, director of the Teatro de la Scala, who called her for an audition.
