The singer and songwriter Joss Stone is one of the leading voices of contemporary soul and R&B. Her career took off with her debut album, The Soul Sessions (2003), recorded when she was only 16 years old. This album consisted mainly of cover versions of soul classics performed with a personality and vocal power that surprised fans and critics alike.
Success came with her second album, Mind Body & Soul (2004), which went straight to Number One in the United Kingdom, making her one of the youngest artists to do so. Songs like You Had Me or Right to Be Wrong became big hits and reflected her capacity to combine classical soul with a modern sound.
Throughout her career, she has released various hit albums, such as Introducing Joss Stone (2007) which marked her breakthrough into the American market, LP1 (2011) or Water for Your Soul (2015) which included reggae, hip-hop and world music influences, without losing her soul essence. Her best songs include Super Duper Love, Fell in Love with a Boy, and Tell Me 'Bout It, in addition to those already mentioned.
Her talent has been recognised with numerous awards and nominations. She has won a Grammy Award and several Brit Awards, as well as numerous nominations throughout her career. These awards highlight not only her vocal talent but also her contribution to keeping the spirit of soul alive in contemporary music.
Her most recent album to date is Never Forget My Love (2022), an album that marked her comeback following an absence of several years. This album embraces contemporary R&B with classic soul roots and includes songs like Breaking Each Other’s Hearts and Oh to Be Loved by You. In 2024, she released the live album, 20 Years of Soul: Live in Concert, to mark her career spanning two decades.
