Laureus World Sports Awards Madrid 2026

The Glass Gallery at Cibeles Palace will host the Laureus World Sports Award ceremony on 20 April, which are sport’s most prestigious awards and recognise the best sportsmen and women and teams of 2025. The world’s top sportsmen and women will be competing in seven elite categories.

Big names from the world of sport, past and present, will be in Madrid to honour the greatest sportsmen, sportswomen and teams of 2025. Each of the Winners will receive the coveted Laureus Statuette, one of most recognisable symbols of excellence in sport.

This is the second year in a row that Madrid will host this famous award ceremony, which is considered to be the “Oscars of Sport”. These awards include the statuette, known as the Laureus, which is awarded to the winner in each of the seven elite categories, as well as the Laureus Sport for Good Award, which is voted by the 69 sporting legends in the Laureus World Sports Academy and recognises a person or organisation that has made a significant contribution to transforming the lives of children and young people through sport. The list of finalists will be announced on 3 March.

Since it was founded, Laureus has helped to improve the lives of more than six and a half million children and young people, and currently supports more than 300 sport-based community programmes worldwide. By doing so, they help to fulfil the visionary words of its founder, Nelson Mandela: "Sport has the power to change the world".
