National Dance Company | Luz Arcas | Kor'sia

The National Dance Company will perform a double programme from 26 to 31 May at the  Centro Danza Matadero - CDM, premièring two modern dance pieces created by Luz Arcas and the Kor'sia ensemble: Masa and Tablero.

In Masa, Arcas proposes a powerful reflection on the strength of large groups and their ability to transform history. The piece approaches the large group as a living, changing and ambivalent organism, capable of devotion and violence, joint lucidity and fear. On stage, bodies come together and multiply until they become one, evoking the overwhelming and at times disturbing energy of the group.

Tablero looks at the joint creation of identity and memory. Based on the image of a board that becomes a base, a territory and a meeting point, the choreography explores how communities are organised, transformed and how they leave their mark on the common space. The production sees culture as a living, constantly changing process, in which tradition and the present enter into dialogue to forge new realities.
