Spanish Film Library presents the exhibition NO-DO. The world of yesterday. Image and propaganda of Franco's Regime from 3 December to 26 July 2026. The exhibition explores the newsreels and documentaries produced by NO-DO, one of the best-known organisations to emerge during the Franco regime, which, despite its close relationship with the dictatorship, managed to present its content as a form of entertainment and escapism.
More than eight decades after the creation of NO-DO and nearly 45 years since its disappearance, the exhibition examines the significance of this material for society and Spain’s audiovisual heritage today.
Located in the district of Lavapiés, the Filmoteca Española is an archive that was created in 1953, dedicated to collecting and preserving Spanish State film heritage, to ensure its conservation and dissemination. Its screening room, the Cine Doré, hosts both regular programming and presentations, discussions, seminars, round table discussions and lectures, creating an active space for dialogue about cinema and its history.
