{"id":2285,"date":"2018-05-21T10:25:17","date_gmt":"2018-05-21T10:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esmadrid.com\/mcb\/en\/?p=2285"},"modified":"2018-05-21T10:25:17","modified_gmt":"2018-05-21T10:25:17","slug":"madrid-shows-off-southeast-asia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esmadrid.com\/mcb\/en\/news\/madrid-shows-off-southeast-asia\/","title":{"rendered":"Madrid shows itself off to Southeast Asia"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>As one of the markets with the greatest potential for Madrid, Southeast Asia is one of the focuses of Madrid Convention Bureau\u2019s calendar of promotional activities.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4><strong>In collaboration with Turkish Airlines, the organisation hosted a fam trip for professionals from Southeast Asia.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As part of its promotional strategy in Southeast Asia, from 10 to 13 May Madrid Convention Bureau hosted a fam trip for seven agents specialised in MICE tourism from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>All of the participating companies are key accounts for Turkish Airlines, which selected the relevant profiles and took care of the travel arrangements. The trip combined two complementary Spanish destinations: Madrid and Bilbao.<\/p>\n<p>The places in Madrid visited by the seven participants included the hotels Westin Palace Madrid and H10 Puerta de Alcal\u00e1, the special venues Neptuno Premium and Palacio del Negralejo and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. The agencies also had a chance to learn about Madrid\u2019s gastronomy with a cooking class at the school A Punto, and to enjoy its leisure offerings and shopping at El Corte Ingl\u00e9s Castellana.<\/p>\n<p>In parallel with the tour programme, on 11 May the participants attended a work seminar with DMCs from Madrid. The meeting was held at the iconic Palacio de Santo\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to their stay in Madrid, the group also visited Alcal\u00e1 de Henares, a city classed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Located very close to the Spanish capital, Alcal\u00e1 de Henares is the birthplace of the Spanish language due to its unique status as the world&#8217;s first university city.<\/p>\n<p>Fam trips are one of the most effective tools at the Convention Bureau\u2019s disposal for the purpose of selling Madrid as a destination. For this reason, every year it organises roughly ten such activities on its own initiative for different international markets.
